Welcome to the
website of RUTH SNYDER, R.N., the author of “MATERNAL INSTINCTS
IN ASPERGER’S SYNDROME,” from the anthology “AUTISM
AND GIRLS.”
Ruth
Snyder is a registered nurse, an adult with autism, the mother of four children
(two of which have autism), and an advocate for the awareness of biomedical
issues that are related to autism. Click on the links above to learn more about
Ruth Snyder and her work.
Ruth
Snyder’s advocacy focuses on the following core beliefs:
1.
Autism is not just a neurological,
developmental and/or a mental disorder. Physiological and biomedical symptoms
of autism exist alongside the neurological and behavioral symptoms more
commonly associated with autism.
2.
Autistic women experience autism differently
than autistic men, and they have issues and symptoms that differ from autistic
men. These differences are often neglected and ignored as the experiences of
autistic males are often assumed to constitute the universal
experiences of people with autism.
